Congratulations to all the athletes and their coaches for the their season so far.  We hope that your athletes have performed to their best ability and those that are finished with their season are returning to the gym with excitement for next year!

To those athletes that are still in the midst of their season,  Good Luck in all your efforts!

To the Coaches as we move forward in our season from State Meets to Regional and National competitions,  please make Illinois proud.  We truly have a great state and great group of Coaches.  Please comport yourselves with the respect towards each other, athletes and the Great Sport that we are lucky to be a part of.  Please realize that we as leaders in our Sport need to present ourselves as leaders in everything we do. Coaches please present yourself professionally, in appearance and actions. A reminder that all coaches need to wear your lanyards at all time on the competition floor.

Congratulations to Mary Lee Tracy on being inducted into the Hall of Fame

Mary Lee Tracy has coached numerous gymnasts to the U.S. National Team, including two
members of the 1996 gold-medal Olympic team (Amanda Borden and Jaycie Phelps). Tracy
was named USA Gymnastics’ Women’s Coach of the Year three consecutive years (1994-
96), and is a seven-time Region 5 Coach of the Year. In addition to coaching, Tracy has
served on regional and national committees for USA Gymnastics. Tracy, the president and
head coach of Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy, lives in West Chester, Ohio, and has one
daughter, Rachael.

Illinois will have a table for all those attending the National Congress as usual

The purpose of this email is to provide notification of acceptable forms of verification for background checks for Professional Members.  Beginning in December 2007, individuals who apply for or renew their Professional Membership are required to complete a background check as a condition of membership.  Individuals must receive a “Green Light” status in order to activate their USA Gymnastics membership. NEW RULING as of July, 2007:

The last qualifying date for each level, will also be the last date for out of State scores.  Scores are to be submitted, via FAX or email, to the Level Chairs and the State Score Tracker, the Monday following the last qualifying date.  NO OUT OF STATE SCORE will be accepted after this time.

  • Judges Mileage Reimbursement
    Effective January 1, 2008, the rate for mileage reimbursement is $0.50/mile to reflect the upcoming change in the IRS standard mileage rate for 2008.

We are looking for a meet bid for the Regional Level 8 Championship

 Requirements are

  • Traditional Format 2 gym system (Jr Gym and Senior Gym) with 2 vaults per gym or

  • Capital Cup system for 2 gyms (Jr Gym and Senior Gym)

  • Date May 2, 3, 4
