One of Illinois Coaches - Vladimir
Gogoladze
I'm not sure if you've heard about this, but
a little girl from Edwardsville,
Illinois was killed Friday when she was playing in a culvert
and it collapsed
on her. Her name was Macie Crow and she was 7 years old and
a level 4 gymnast
at the Edwardsville YMCA. I had the priviledge of working
with Macie last
summer when I was helping coach at the Y. She was one of
those kids that could
light up a room with her smile. This is a tragic event here
in southern
Illinois and I believe it is something the entire Illinois
gymnastics community
should know about. Below is a link to the Belleville
News-Democrat article
announcing services.

I would like to thank all the volunteers that took time out of their Busy Schedules to
help make this event (the first in our State for 25 years) a huge success. Your
efforts showed that Chicago and Illinois can be ready to take on the 2016
Olympics.
I know that if I start naming people I will for sure forget someone I really
hope I don't and if I do please accept my apology in advance. You know who you
are!
But let me try to name those that put in many, many hours of extra....
Mike Buckley - Floor Manager, Jackie Buckley and their staff for the use of their facility for the Opening Ceremony athletes training.
Steve Cacchione - Equipment Crew Coordinator and all his outstanding crew of 85 volunteers for 5 days of set-up and change over and break down.
Chris Deck, Sean Blay, Kevin Jeziorny, Kacey Childs, Kathie Anderson and Gina Rizzo in the Tyson Fitness Challenge.
Don McPherson for use of gym for Japanese Team Training times prior to Podium, Training
Cindy Morano – Gymnastics Volunteer Coordinator
Amanda Sowa 2016 - Volunteer Coordinator
I also want to thank all those that came the day of the event and volunteered in the meet operations: Kim Bendixen, Kris Eisenmann, Heather Forbes, Beth Gray, Cathy Huffman, Glen Marks, Beth and Dan Miller, Stacey Mooney, Edgar Pulido, Rebecca Reddick, Caolyn Rotonda and Chevie Ruder…
I also do not have the names of the NAWGJ personnel that also volunteered their time in their perspective But a big thank you for all your efforts the day of the meet.
One additional thank you goes out to all the Youth volunteers that took part in the Opening Ceremonies. Many hours were spent in rehearsals for the opening Ceremonies. Thanks to the Awards Crew, Runners, and Squad leaders also.
